Writing Prompt ideas:
- Many great sports programs include everyone. Unified Sports (soccer, basketball, kickball) is a great program at many high schools. Describe the experience of including players of all abilities.
- Criticize or defend:
- The father’s choice to allow his son to participate in Mixed Martial Arts. He mentioned many relatives were not happy with his choice to all Garrett to fight. Criticize of defend his choice.
- Monster Mike: Monster Mike is an athlete with no disabilities who decided to fight Garrett. Do you agree with his decision? What would you choose to do if you were in the same situation? Explain your reasoning.
- Individuals with Down Syndrome have so much to offer. Describe interactions you have had with individuals who have Down Syndrome. Describe your relationship with this person.
- Personal Reflection: What do we see in a reflection? In part, it’s interpretation. It depends on who’s looking, on what we want to see and how clearly we see it… Looking at YOU, who do you see?
