My Town Tutors is a great resource for parents & teachers. Check out our Guest Blogs for EducationParentsTravelTutoringSportsMusic and College.

Being able to have a go-to resource as a teacher is invaluable. We highly recommend Icivics for social studies teachers of all levels. This website has so many lessons options for teachers of all grade levels.

Icivics was founded by Supreme Court Justice Sadra Day O’Connor. This website is committed to maintaining and creating up-to-date civic lessons for K through 12. There is no better resource around election time.

In all the activities, the Icivics team updates the politicians who are currently in office. The educators designing the lesions are always trying to create connections with current students. The activities try to speak the current language, incorporating connections to social media.

For the election season, Win the White House is a fantastic resource. Not only is there an extension pack of activities that can be completed before, during, and after the Win the White House game. The game allows a student to assume the role of a presidential candidate seeking election.

Students of all ages love it. The game is a fun and exciting way for students to understand the election process from primary debates to the party nomination, and ultimately a victory or defeat.

ICivics does an an exceptional job of explaining checks and balances and separation of powers. They also have detailed readings and activities on each branch of the government, the executive legislative and Supreme Court. If you have never explored civics, election time is a great time to start. If you have used Icivics in the past, we would be shocked if you’re not currently using it today and at several other points during the school year.

Good luck get out there and vote and participate in this great country. Election day professional development
