My Town Tutors is a great resource for parents & teachers. Check out our Guest Blogs for EducationParentsTravelTutoringSportsMusic and College.

A kindergarten teacher is a student’s first introduction to formal education for so many 5 and 6 year-old children. These individuals are able to alleviate fears, teach sharing and compassion, and work with students from so many different backgrounds.

I remember my days in kindergarten like it was yesterday. Mrs. Creahan, who we affectionately called, Mrs. Crayon, was the nicest woman in the world. It was a pleasure to spend time in that classroom. I learned to spell my name, recite my address and home phone number (no cell phones then), and learn my letters.

There was a “letter of the week” that we focused on. We learned how to correctly write the uppercase and lowercase letter. We identified objects that began with that letter and sang songs too.

It is great to visit memory lane.

My Town Tutors is fortunate to have a very close relationship with a current kindergarten teacher. We believe in teachers and value the experience and training these individuals have developing age-appropriate, effective, and enjoyable lessons. We will share some of these lessons for parents of kindergartners.

Like 1976, there still is a “letter of the week.” We will be sharing the letter of the week along with family activities to teach and reinforce the learning of the letters in future posts.

To Mrs. Creahan and all the current and retired kindergarten teachers, THANK YOU! You are amazing and you certainly made and make learning fun.
