USS Constitution: (pages 20-21) 1,224 dots!
Over the 180 days of a high school year, it is nice to try some creative assignments. We have used the Extreme Dot-To-Dot Activity book when we can make a connection to the curriculum. For the War of 1812, a great introduction The USS Constitution Dot-to-Dot (1,224 points) is 2-page EXTREME Dot-To-Dot of the USS Constitution.
Twinkl shares some of the many benefits of dot-to-dot for early learners. Some high school teachers might be skeptical of using this activity with high school students, we challenge you to give it a shot. You will be shocked, the ENTIRE CLASS will likely be 100% focused.
Material needed
- Photocopies of pages 20 and 21.
- Tape
- Pencils
- Coloring pencils, crayons, or markers
BEFORE handing out the paper, model the steps for the students.
Steps
- Make sure the numbers are on the OUTSIDE.
- Flip the paper over and neatly tape it together.
- Connect the dots.
It is that simple. The students will be so focused that in many cases, you can hear a pin drop. A teacher will be able to sit down and correct papers or do a little lesson planning.
Obviously, the students will work at their own pace. At the end of a class, collect the work for day 2. Depending on the length of a class, this is a 2-3 day activity. Once the students complete the dot-to-dot, have the students color it.
Hall Of Fame
Speed: A teacher can keep track of the top three students and create a slide show of a medal podium. A teacher can then ask the students for permission to use a picture to include. Some schools have digital seating charts. Teachers can ask the approval of the students.
Quality: The other option is to evaluate the world based on the quality of coloring. There will be some impressive final products.
