U-Haul is a great option for families moving a student to college. It is especially helpful when the student is moving to an off-campus unfurnished apartment.
The first option is a 9 foot moving van. These vans are a little less intimidating to drive than a typical U-Haul truck. It may remove the additional stress of driving a big rental truck. The storage is significant. It is very helpful, especially if you are transporting a mattress and boxspring.
It is very easy to use the U-Haul app. When picking up the van it requires you to take a few different photos as well as a photo of the odometer. The whole process takes about 5 to 10 minutes.
When moving into a new apartment, sometimes it can be overwhelming. Before loading the van, it is helpful to have things packed neatly and compactly. Having a handwritten or typed punch list makes the move more efficient.
Storage bins can be helpful. Finding places for the larger items first is critical. Be sure to allow yourself enough time. Loading a van and an additional car could take between three and four hours for some families.
Arriving at the Apartment.
Moving to an apartment is important to coordinate with the other roomates. Whenever possible, try to scope out the apartment and bedroom to see what you have to work with. (

Some people may choose to hire a deep cleaning service before moving in however, if you bring a vacuum and cleaning supplies, this can also do the trick. Bring in the largest items first place the bed in the most convenient space. Then add the dressers. Evaluate the closet space.
