The Ultimate Guide for 3rd Grade Basketball
Having a basketball tryout on a national holiday is an interesting choice. Players are just back to school and have yet to have a full week of school. This creates anxiety for the child and the family.
It seems to be yet another example of the craziness of youth sports. 20 years ago basketball tryouts may have been held in late October or early November. But here we are at Labor Day with third grade players having a tryout It certainly is a different world. However, if you have decided travel basketball is the best interest of your 3rd grade child, good luck! Be sure to get the player to registered and to the tryout early.
What does a third grade basketball tryout look look like?
We are very curious to find the answer. We have never participated in a 3rd grade basketball tryout as player coached, coach, evaluator, or as an observing parent..We will be sharing with you the tryout schedule, number of participants as well as parent and player feedback.
The bigger question is, should there be travel basketball for players ages 8 & 9 years old? I would not want to be the parent who has to explain the tryout process to a child who is not selected for the team, or. possiblly placed on a B or C team. Hopefully at this age there are no cuts, but that probably is not the case. Life has many hard lessons to teach.
I am not sure learning about being cut is a good thing as this age.
We are loyal disciples of USA Basketball especially at younger ages. USA Basketball guidelines should be followed paragraph third grade trial paragraph number of players location, middle school Jim with 10 foot baskets and six baskets, one full court 2 Side court and coaching youth, Basketball is good to know the Jim and the resources available to you because very often in large towns you may track practice at six or seven gyms.
